UPDATE 03/24/23: Appreciate the rec's, I think I'll keep this current account and just transfer over Flips from my 3DS. Still a bit miffed about the spinoff symbol that's gonna be everywhere now, haha.
plus if you really want to, you can send over your dsi flipnotes to your 3ds by using the send/receive feature on the details page for any flipnote in your folders.
you sadly cannot login to your dsi account on your 3ds, but im sure you can build back any fans you got on this account. just make an announcement that you've moved. just make sure you switch anything linked to the account. (discord, youtube)
this account was made on a 3ds xl, and its definitely better than the tiny screen dsi. the only downside of the 3ds xl is the screen upscaling, which makes things the slightest bit blurry if you're really used to the pixel perfect screen of the dsi.
