Featured Artist: NoctiObake (November 20th, 2019)

Hey there, Flipnoters and Flipnote fans alike! Team Sudomemo here with our newest Featured Artist, Noc〒i~♪.

NoctiObake has been with us since December 2014, wowing us with exemplary motion design, fluid transitions and lighting. Let's find out more about the artist behind the animations!

Please tell us about yourself.

Hi! I'm Nocti! A 21 y/o French Animator. Actually a 4th year 3D animation and Concept artist student. I have been a Flipnote animator since 2011 on Flipnote Hatena, under the name Noc〒i~♪.

Today I'm learning 3D and 2D animation through my computer. I'm looking to buy TVPaint and I also work on Spine for tweening. I am still going to animate on Flipnote but I'm searching original concepts like Coloris. I may try classic Flipnote as well!

On Sudomemo I'm here but not here as well, I'm a kind of ghost :'''>

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

I love to draw and create universe, I'm about to open a website to upload a sort of "light novel" based on the character I've created when I was on Flipnote Hatena. I like improve my art and create scenes! I also try to look for animation inspiration and make 3D models of my OCs. And I often play Minecraft to build and get out from my "art atmosphere", it's a good way for me to get out from stress!

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

I cannot say that those Flipnotes are the best but they have a small element I'm really proud of.

Coloris (Part 1)

I will put only one part but the WHOLE Coloris thing was a huge project to me and I'm so glad that I could finish it! It came out very well and I'm really proud!

Take It Out On Me (Collab, Part 1)

Split into parts as well but I'm really proud of the animations I did with Kiki Can, her level helps me to force myself to improve everyday!

Catgroove

This one is old but I've always enjoyed this Flipnote! I put lots of efforts and it came out very well! Characters were simple, that allowed me to try new things!

Human

This is one of my favorites, I've been very proud of some animations that I did here! It's not my best but one of the most interesting to me.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes? What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?

I focus on the movement, I've learned the pose to pose technique which helps me to makes better movements. I also practice visual effects a lot, and try new things on every Flipnote!

It's funny, but my biggest problem is the lip-syncing, something I haven't quite figured out yet. I couldn't find my style. I may also to improve my fluidity.

Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Sudomemo.

She sadly left Sudomemo but Kiki Can is one of my biggest friends and inspirations! We were mutual inspiration for years. The effects and movements she does are fantastic, very fluid. I highly suggest people to check out her YouTube channel!

mamallama's profile and animation skills improved so fast that it's crazy! Her art is very fluid and always clean! I'm impressed, really :0

I couldn't mention Sudomemo artists without Salty Milk! Where should I start???? The art style is awesome, every animations and effects are very well done and it often happened to me to sit and analyze their animation to understand their process. I respect them and their work a lot.

Most of my biggest inspiration were more on Flipnote Hatena though. It's where I grew up as an artist and animator. Sadly, most of them didn't join Sudomemo.

Is there something you would like to say to the Sudomemo community?

Enjoy animation! Don't be scared to try new animations and to get out from your comfort zone! You can look for references from animation or real life and try animations you never did before! It's okay to not succeed because it's always a good way to learn!
