Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "The Elephant"

In our first spectacularly funny winning Weekly Topic Flipnote, by matthieu, an elephant pays a visit to a Kitty Cat friend. However, his continual doorbell ringing goes unheard, as his buddy is busy having fun and listening to music! And when he finally answers the door, our flappy eared protagonist has totally lost patience, and squashes his house completely!

The drawings, animation and sound track are wonderfully done, and we also really enjoyed the animated zoom out at the beginning. What a very nice touch.

The lumbering gait of a walking elephant in motion, is animated beautifully in our next Weekly Topic Winner, by Vickthor.

The character is brilliantly drawn and shaded with several tones of elephant grey and some lovely highlights. Also, the leg positions in the cycle of movement are very well worked out, with good use of shadow to distinguish them from one another.

The old adage that elephants are petrified of mice, is the subject of our next hilarious Winning Weekly Topic entry, by Jake.

This elephant however, isn't going to take this lying down, and decides to launch a pre-emptive attack on the innocent mouse, much to the stunned astonishment of a panel of spectators.

Both the action and animation are super-extreme and wonderfully executed, and we particularly loved the shot of the terrified trumpeting elephant.

What an amazingly cool idea for this topic.

We were especially impressed with the movement and energy of the spin attack.

Very nicely done indeed!

This Weeks Topic - "waterfalls"

A waterfall is an area where water flows over a drop, or a series of drops, in the course of a stream or a river.

Some well know waterfalls are Niagara Falls (in Canada), Victoria Falls (in Zimbabwe), and Iguazu Falls (in Argentina). Check them out on line, they're awesome!

An impressive sight, a waterfall is not only a thing of beauty, but also of danger! A continual flowing wall of water, so vast that rainbows form in its vapor, could also spell the end of the line, to a river boat or a canoer.

Creating the look of the flowing water will be the key to animating a great looking waterfall for your Flipnote.

You could try using both Flipnote tools or imported photographs to create with.

Top Tip

Try using the free draw fine eraser to make wavy lines over the shading brushes for a great flowing watery effect. Used it a less subtle way, this technique could also work for creating foam at the bottom of the waterfall.

Scribble texture can make wonderfully detailed effects, if used carefully.

Pencil #5 could also be very useful for creating flowing water.

Why not experiment to get the best results.
