Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Cockroaches"

When a lizard comes across an cockroach on his travels, he’s treated to a delightful dance in this weekly Topic winning Flipnote by kingwink.

We just loved the sense of whimsy and the fairytale style employed here, as well as the expert figure posing and animation required to pull off the six legged, bug-tastic groove!

In an ultimate showdown between mother and Roach, Wacky’s Mom puts many months of hard roach training to shame while simply making dinner in this “Rather Crunchy” topic winner by Jake.

Contrasting domestic activity with the impassioned fury of a vengeful cockroach makes for a great versus match, which builds nicely to its conclusion with a stir-fry comedy punchline!

A mix-up with bug spray and deodorant achieves quite the opposite effect that was intended, when it transforms a smelly cockroach into an attractive and fragrant father to be, in this Weekly Topic winner by JoseFigueC.

This wonderfully ironic idea is skillfully conveyed using expressive animation, annotated dialogue, and shiny roach FX that really sell the punch-line.

With sudden alarm and a bleeped expletive, Pencil man encounters a cockroach who is armed to the teeth in this Weekly Topic winner by Tugay Dost.

Animating at speed eight gives the movement, texture, and line boil quality both a crispness and distinctive look that we’ve come to associate with this quirky and wonderfully entertaining character.

Using a very effective feet-pattering sound effect, and an overhead view, a cockroach comes to life on the Dsi screen in this shudderingly realistic topic winner by Lux Light.

I mean, even the feelers twitch……..Uggghhh!!!

A stick man demonstrates a highly typical reaction to the presence of a cockroach in this hysterical topic winning entry by Jake.

But unfortunately, for the less squeamish friend, no amount of bug spray can keep it at bay when the lights go out!

Spongebob Squarepants also has a serious aversion to the cockroach, as we see in this brilliantly illustrated, winning topic Flipnote by PIERSON😃.

The double take eye flick and the “Roach In Your Face” sound effect created the bug-like terror with just the right emphasis.

Featuring Dee Dee from the interactive television series “Oggy And The Cockroaches", this colorful cartoon character animation by Esmee♥ includes a wibbly wobbly tongue, and dizzy, googly eyes.

Poor Oggy! No wonder he’s driven to distraction.

This Weeks Topic - "Escape"

This week’s topic is about escape!

From the dare-devil escape artists like Harry Houdini with his straight-jacket and water tank acts, to the carefully planned breakouts from POW camps that have featured in many exciting Hollywood movies, escapes come in many different forms.

For example, in the movie The Great Escape, (Based on real events), the prisoners dug secret tunnels to crawl their way to freedom.

Other techniques of note include copying keys, picking locks, dummies in beds, and even smuggling hacksaws inside cakes, not to mention the extreme levels of concealment and subterfuge required to pull off the escapes under the noses of the ever watchful guards.

Your Flipnotes could be about any kind of escape you choose. And the more bizarre and impossible, the better!

Use your PC, OCs, or any other characters you like, and let them dazzle us with their genius, topic escapes.

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Escape and the deadline for your entries is August the 6th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.

And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
