August 22nd, 2021: Sudomemo Weekly News - Topic:"Stick Men"

Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly Newsletter and Weekly Topic competition.

We had a great response to last week's topic Stick Men, and a selection of our favorite winning entries are coming up.

But first, if you're thinking about making a topic Flipnote, don't forget to check out next week's topic theme and it's description, as well as the subsequent Upcoming Topics listed at the end of the Newsletter.

And now, here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Stick Men". Well done to everybody who entered.

Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Stick Men"

Our first winning Weekly Topic entry this week is by Cosmirage.

It's an absolutely fantastic stickman version of a, very currently spin popular, Rick Astley dancing video Flipnote.

We recognized it immediately, and were delighted with the way the classic dance moves transferred into the stickman character.

Now that's got to be 'Stick Astley' right there.

What Sudomemo gold!

A dramatic prelude to a stickman fight, a stick-fight story, is played out with simmering intensity, in our next Weekly Topic winner, by Aegle.

Both the isolation of the setting, and the brooding implications of the dialogue instills an inevitability of what is about to happen.

Epic Stick Fight!

Keep your eyes peeled for the follow up Flipnotes in this series.

This highly effective stickman design, features a perfectly round head, and large expressive manga style faces.

With a deft touch, ニコニコデルタ has created a strikingly dynamic sequence, showcasing a variety of these stick characters, with impressive action and movements.

Celebrating both the anniversary of the Henry Stickmin video game, and this week's topic, Jake presents us with this hilarious Flipnote, featuring the stick man characters from the game.

With the perfect plan for an on time pick up, we roared with laughter when his ride comes crashing in on him.

It's probably a sure bet now, that he'll be late for his appointment!

Pictogram figures are yet another great style of stickman.

See them starring here as animated characters, in this late awakening, winning Topic entry, by Xlecca.

Rendered all in blue, and pleasingly in synch with the toe tapping sound track, it is indeed a wake up call for any and all stickman!

Two very different rivals face off against one another, in this ingenious animation by ⒷIⒷⒷⒶ.

It's Cursed Emoji stick man, versus Rage Comic stick man. And what a contest it is, with a feast of gurning faces, strenuous gestures, and raucous outbursts.

But which one is the winner?

It's got to be too close to call!

Get an eye full of these two groovy sticks!

They're really giving it their all, and they know how to cut a rug, in this Topic winner, by Hiashi.

We enjoyed the variation of body shape, and silhouetted movement, that puts them in a dancing class all of their own.

This Weeks Topic - "Sewing"

This topic would include every kind of sewing imaginable, from simple stitching, to complex embroidery, and even full speed sewing machine work.

It could be about sewing clothes, constructing soft toys (of your favorite characters), stitching together patterns, assembling designs, or whatever else you can think of.

Use whatever you like as materials. Fabric, buttons, cotton stuffing, spun gold, or whatever luxurious, or exotic ideas you can come up with.

But working with a needle and thread can be delicate work, and you should always use a thimble to prevent pricking your finger.

Have you ever tried threading a needle? It can be incredibly tricky if you're all fingers and thumbs!

Of course, with animation, we don't even need to use our fingers.

Here's an idea. Why not try animating the needle and thread by themselves, sewing busily, as if manipulated by invisible hands.

Make sewing look incredibly easy, or horribly difficult, Flipnote style. And start sewing something together for this topic today!

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Sewing and the deadline for your entries is August 29th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

Also, we would encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.

And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
