August 31st: Sudomemo Weekly News - Topic: "Clouds and The Cloud"

Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly Newsletter and Weekly Topic competition.

We had a great response to last week's topic “Clouds and The Cloud”, and a selection of our favorite winning entries are coming up.

But first we'd like to continue our update of new Sudomemo Features.

More Brand New Sudomemo Features

- Account Switcher (website):

On Sudomemo Theatre, you can now add and switch between accounts! This was suggested recently as a compromise, since accounts cannot be transferred between DS systems.

Additionally, you can now easily export MP4/GIF/PPM of your Flipnotes from the Edit Flipnote page!

Finally, on the DS we've brought back an old feature from Flipnote Hatena: The Flipnote credits roll! You can see all the people who played a part in creating the Flipnote that you're watching, along with some nice music. Sit back and enjoy!

- YouTube Upload Feature updates!

You can now select which playlists you want to add your uploaded Flipnotes to! Just tick them off before you start the upload! You can also set up default playlists to always upload to (e.g. if you're uploading from your DS).

You can now also select your privacy setting (Public, Unlisted, Private) from your DS before starting your upload as well!

- Flipnote Organizer updates (Releasing today)

You can use *what* on the Flipnote Organizer?!?!

A new update for the Flipnote Organizer* is out now, bringing a couple new features as well as some tweaks and bug fixes !

The headlining feature!

Wiimotes can now be used on the Flipnote Organizer, with pointer functionality and other bells and whistles like rumble, and speaker sounds**! This control method allows for a completely one-handed experience.

*On Chromium browsers only (Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc). **Only on RVL-CNT-01-TR Wiimotes support usage of the speaker. Please contact us via Discord or email for an explanation of this, or for the Chromium only thing.

Shuffle is here!

Put your Flipnotes on shuffle and sit back! Flipnotes will never be repeated in this mode too!

The shuffle button can be disabled from settings. Changing folders or manually clicking a Flipnote to play will stop shuffling.

Some little KWZ improvements!

Viewing KWZs is now enabled by default, and now includes Shift Details out of convenience. KWZs will not be fully supported for the time being despite being enabled now.

UI Tweaks

There have also been some tweaks to the UI to make usage a little easier.

And that's the last of the updates. Now let's hear a word about our ongoing fund raising activities.

And now, our winning Flipnotes from last week’s Topic “Clouds and The Cloud“.

Well done to everyone who entered.

In the first of our cloudy Topic winning Flipnotes this week, by Kickety, a Cloud-hack of Cloud data, emotionally triggers Cloud rain!

Featuring both weather and techno based characters in an ingenious, sky high comedy skit, the Topic theme plays out beautifully to a poetic closing punchline, where even a cloud can cry!

Inspired by fond childhood memories, and a recent dream, HALU has created this fantastically surreal animation that totally blew us away!

Starting off as a jet-setting holiday high up amongst the clouds, an exhilarating commercial soundtrack sets the joyful tone. However, things take a turn for the terrifying when the Skype Cloud crashes the party!

When storage capacity runs out in The Cloud, a hapless PC tries out Google’s latest function in this hilariously literal, word-play take on the Topic by Sonen10.

Who knew that clearing physical data could be such a crushing experience!

After an Extreme Chat-up Fail, Ydog=] finds themself trapped in The Cloud, under threat of deletion in this Topic winning tale of flirtation, rejection, and punishing data-transference.

Let’s hope that a Flipnote Password can save the day!

While entertaining an unruly crowd, the uncanny ability to predict the weather leads to some disturbing adoration in this well voice-acted and characterful winner by HykicNova.

This Weeks Topic - "Shaking"

Shaking can occur in a variety of rapid, forceful, jerky movements, which can be captured in animation in many different ways;

From vibrational movement, or short bursts back and forth, to multiple images, blurring, or even creative combinations. Why not experiment and push it as far as you can!

There’s many different things you could try shaking for your Flipnotes, from everyday life, as well as popular culture.

Why not mix up a milk shake? Or make a ketchup bottle pour? Or have the ground shake from an earthquake? Or tremble a character in fear?

And how about things that should not be shaken. Like a package of precious glassware. That’s always a good one for comedy sound effects!

Try shaking things up, shaking out the kinks, shaking things to pieces, or even shaking some sense into someone.

Whatever you decide, give it a good shake and whack it into a Flipnote!

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Shaking and the deadline for your entries is September 7th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes, to highlight any details you’d like us to feature in our winner reviews.

Tip: The frame you save your Flipnote on will become the thumbnail, so choose your favorite or add a title page!

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
