September 18th: Sudomemo Weekly News - Topic: "Fashion"

Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly Newsletter and Weekly Topic competition.

We had a great response to last week's topic “Fashion”, and a selection of our favorite winning entries are coming up.

You can view all of the submissions for this topic on its Weekly Topic channel by clicking this link Weekly Topic - Fashion

But first, here's an update about a new feature on Sudomemo.....

Weekly Welcoming Champion Ceremony

If you’ve been around on our Discord (and if you haven’t, you totally should!), you may have noticed messages notifying everyone that a user has just uploaded their first Flipnote to Sudomemo and encouraging people to leave a welcome comment. This feature has been around for a while but now we’re taking it a step further by introducing the weekly Welcoming Champion ceremony!

Every week – at 9PM ET on a Saturday – the top 3 people who have left the most welcome comments on these Flipnotes will receive the Welcoming Champion role on our Discord server and also receive a Welcoming Champion ticket which – when redeemed – will unlock a new trophy for their Creator’s Room.

Join us in a group effort to make Sudomemo a more friendly and inviting community for all, one comment at a time!

OK, back to the Topic.

If you're thinking about making a topic Flipnote, don't forget to check out next week's topic theme and description, with ideas and inspiration to get you started, as well as the upcoming Topics listed at the end of the Newsletter.

And now here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Fashion". Well done to everybody who entered.

Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Fashion"

In our first topic winning selection, it’s fashion week for the OCs of JoseFigueC.

Upon the arrival of a huge pile of clothes, they don their outfits, and the show begins.

Featuring stylish looks such as The Tomboy, The Rocker Chic, Steetwear, and Grunge, the gang’s fashion debut is a rousing success, as is the meticulous drawing, coloring, and patterning used to create the Flipnote outfits that they wear.

In this next topic winner, ★Soda★ presents three colorful and distinctive styles of fashion.

Using her Profile Character as a model, the outfits on display radiate elegance, coolness, and the casual look, with a different pose for each one, and a fashion boutique soundtrack that sells the idea beautifully.

When a thief makes off with a brand new hat from his local fashion shop, his punishment more than fits his crime, in this Weekly Topic winner by kamacurse.

Beginning in a cartoon style, the action rapidly takes a turn for the darker after a mysterious stranger turns up with a dangerous looking device in hand. Proving most definitely that.....

Crime does not pay!

Two ancient and traditional forms of attire, created by SilyElixir, are modeled by a Japanese Empress in this fashion presentation of a bygone era.

Now those are some serious fashion-design skills right there!

Conveying the fashionable ideal “Express yourself - Dress yourself”, AshJ87 has created this wonderful character Flip-Pic showcasing a full ensemble of clothing, jewelry, and a fabulous hairstyle.

This Weeks Topic - "Gravity"

From an apple falling from a tree, to the orbit of a planet around a sun. Gravity is the force that draws all things together.

The greater the mass, the bigger the gravitational pull.

In this way, we all live on the surface of the Earth, and if not for gravity, would float helplessly away into space!

Well that’s my understanding of it anyway! “Ha, ha”

Your flipnotes could be about any aspect or gravity at all; Earth gravity, hyper-gravity, anti-gravity, simulated gravity or any other gravitational ideas you can come up with.

You could go scientific, or science-fiction with your animations!

Or even play around with the very physical laws themselves!

It’s entirely up to you!

Also, why not checkout the Hollywood movie Gravity (2013). There’s plenty of video clips on YouTube for inspiration, as well as associated discussions on how accurately gravity is presented in the movies.

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Gravity and the deadline for your entries is September 25th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.

And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
