And now, here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Kindness". Well done to everybody who entered.

Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Kindness"

In our first selection this week, a brand new super hero steps up to the plate! His name is Kind Man, and we just love his outfit! With a bright red crash helmet and leotard, he uses his super powers to perform acts of kindness, returning a lost balloon to a sad young girl, in this Flipnote by ニコニコデルタ.

All hail Kind Man! What a guy!

The kind act of helping an old lady across the street, is the subject of this next entry, by Mr.tiago™9. We loved the idea here, and the spontaneous vocal sound effects were splendidly done.

A little act of kindness can go a long way, as we see in this entry by pictochatz. The act of giving a gift, really lifts up the spirits of everyone involved.

What lovely sentiment.

In this sad and moving MV, by Strawberry, Sonic the Hedgehog mends hearts with the kind gift of a flower.

The character animation is very emotive, and it's beautifully timed with the music.

A fox is very kind to a hungry friend when he gives her his Onigiri, in this charming and cute Flipnote by Wafflefeni.

Assigning each character to a layer colour was a really great idea, and the music adds a wonderful quality to this fox's tale of kindness and tasty rice treats.

This Weeks Topic - "Abstract Animation"

Abstract: Art that does not represent external reality, but achieves its effect using shapes colours and textures.

This topic would include animation with shapes, lines, colours, patterns, textures, forms and any other abstract visuals you can think of.

Use Flipnote tools like the stylus drag, or the DSi camera for great texturing, or why not mix them both together.

Be free and go wild with your animation, creating different types of movement, fast, slow, harsh and subtle.

Experiment with distortion, metamorphosis, negative space, inversions, multiple layers and cycles, to manipulate your shapes, lines, patterns and forms.

Timing your abstract animation to music and sound effects can be a great inspiration. Why not try expressing the music within the abstract imagery with movement. That works really well, and is great fun to do. This technique was experimented with, most notably in the Disney animated movie Fantasia, and there are many other abstract animation short films you may find inspirational. Here's are links to a couple of fun ones we found on YouTube:

We are eagerly awaiting your abstract animations, with a square, a squiggle, and a swirl!

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them. Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Abstract Animation and the deadline for your entries is November 22nd (12pm EST / 4pm GMT) Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
